Study in West Vancouver Schools

West Vancouver is a beautiful community bounded on the north by the majestic “Coast mountains” and on the south by the Pacific Ocean, it is just 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver. The United Nations has recognized the city as one of the best cities to live in the world.

The international program was the first to welcome international students to Canada's public schools. They offer courses since 1982 and have developed one of the best international programs in BC and Canada. They constantly achieve high results in sports and art academies.

The West Vancouver district offers each of the international students:

  • Academic and personal growth
  • Development of critical, creative thinking and leadership skills
  • An opportunity to shine in an educational system that challenges and inspires.

In 2019 Red Leaf has been distinguished with the "Certificate of Partnership of West Vancouver, which recognizes the great relationship that exists between the 2 entities.

Educational ideology

West Vancouver Schools (WVS) is a student community that attracts students from West Vancouver, Bowen Island, Lions Bay and beyond. As the highest performing public school board in British Columbia, WVS builds on a tradition of academic excellence. At each school, we support the potential of each student and work to solve problems of conscience and character to persevere in our complex and changing world.

The achievements of our students have been largely seen in the ongoing dialogue between staff, parents, and a wide range of community, cultural, and business organizations in West Vancouver, Squamish Nation, Lions Bay, and Bowen Island. Examples include community centers, public libraries, the Kay Meek Theater, the West District, Vancouver, and local and provincial emergency response organizations.

Partnerships outside of our community include working with 365-Give, Canadian Self-Regulation Initiative, Human Early Education Association, Vancouver Coastal Health, Launchpad Young Entrepreneurs Leadership, West Vancouver Place for Sport, numerous local and global non-profit organizations, and charitable, and many provincial and national sports and cultural associations.

Our District Board advocates for a strong and highly effective public education system for students and families.
