Overview
Vernon is nestled in the Penticton Valley, surrounded by mountains and three beautiful lakes. Summer is hot and dry and long but moderate winters where you can experience the four Canadian seasons. Vernon is a safe and comfortable community where students can get around on public transportation, walk, or ride the school bus. The city of Vernon is located between the cities of Vancouver and Calgary.
Students choose Vernon for having one of the best climates in Canada, as it allows them to enjoy the mountains, lakes and high-level "Silver Star Mountain" ski facilities. Vernon runs an elite soccer academy with professional coaching that attracts students from all over the world. In addition, it offers academies for ice hockey, baseball, swimming, golf and snow sports, including Nordic skiing, downhill racing and snowboarding, and the "Earthquest Outdoor School": Outdoor Education Program.
The community has 50,000 residents, with 90% of English speaking as their mother tongue. Teaching English is one of the District's specialties and at each high school there is a specialized teacher to assist international students.
