Overview
The Gulf Islands district is made up of 5 island communities, located in the southern part of the Gulf of British Columbia. The climate of the Gulf Islands is very mild and one of the best in Canada.
Some 600 students attend Gulf Islands Secondary, the District's largest school. The school contains a large international education program and a dramatic art school. The other schools are smaller and their schools have only 6 to 12 students.
The Gulf Islands International Program is committed to ethnic diversity and the results that emerge when young people from all over the world work together to create a better world. They pay special attention to intellectual and social development and for this reason, the program is usually an option for highly motivated students who value personal and academic development.
With a commitment to cultural diversity, the district has created four distinct programs:
- Academic Study and Graduation Program
- English as a Second Language Program
- Cultural Awareness Program
- Specialty Programs
