Study in Kamloops-Thompson School District

The Kamloops-Thompson School District covers a very large geographic area, with a diverse natural environment that includes rolling hills, mountains, rivers, lakes, and wide grasslands.

Kamloops is located in the exciting interior of south-central British Columbia and is just a short flight from Vancouver, the largest city in the province of British Columbia. A unique geography and temperate and semi-arid climate offer students a variety of interesting activities to do, such as mountain biking, hiking, boating, and some of the best downhill skiing and snowboarding in the world. Kamloops is a university city with Thompson Rivers University at the heart of the community.

International students are provided with support dedicated to their needs during their stay at Kamloops, with friendly and caring host families, highly professional teachers, support in English as a second language and support and guidance by specialized educational consultants. In addition, a very interesting Activity Program with various activities each month keeps students connected and helps them make friends while enjoying sports and cultural experiences.

Educational ideology

It is challenging to provide a comprehensive set of educational programs, facilities, and support services for students from kindergarten through 12th grade in a district as large and diverse as the Kamloops Thompson School District.

The geography of our district offers unique challenges. While most of our schools are located in Kamloops, there are small elementary schools in Vavenby, Heffley Creek, Savona, Pinantan, Westwold, Chase, Barriere, Clearwater, and Logan Lake. The District works hard to provide these small rural communities with the same quality of educational programs found in urban centers, as well as to connect those students and staff with the District's largest educational community.

To achieve this, we have a key team of senior leaders: highly experienced and educated professionals in education, business, and engineering.

View

To be a dynamic school district that achieves success for all students through a commitment to equity and excellence.

Mission

We connect students to their future by transforming the way all partners collaborate to create relevant, innovative and inclusive learning environments.

Motto

"Connecting students with their futures".
