DESCRIPTION AND PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This program combines ESL instruction with volunteer experiences in some of the following activities:
• Community reforestation and site restoration
• Invasive species removal
• Tree and wildflower planting
• Preparing excess produce (fruits and vegetables) for distribution to relief organizations
(Activities depend on needs and weather)
For future leaders, ecologists, biology majors and nature lovers in general, this program offers the opportunity to put
English skills into practice while volunteering in the community. A combination of English vocabulary related to the
environment and philanthropy plus hands-on volunteering enables students to progress in English and add a valuable
experience to their resumes. This is a real “English in action” program for older teens and an awesome cultural and
learning experience.
