Canadian Village – Canadian Conversation Partners
Tutors and the international teens will make use of the local facilities open to youth in the summer such as libraries,
recreation centres, parks, cinemas, boys and girls clubs. They may also meet in the tutor’s or host family’s home on occasion if the parents agree.
The groups will meet together for 5 hours per day. There is a physical activity or sport at least every other day.
Each Canadian tutor will plan one full-day or two half-day activities per week and then will meet each day of the week with a different pair of students to carry out the activity four separate times. The pairs of students meet a different Canadian partner each day and have a different activity each day. Then the next week, each Canadian partner plans a new activity, and so on.
The Canadian tutors have a strict code of behaviour to follow to ensure that they act responsibly at all times.
Each Wednesday there will be a full-day excursion for the international teens as a group. In Ontario these excursions will include a visit to Toronto and to Niagara Falls. In British Columbia, they include visits to Vancouver and Victoria or Whistler. The exact excursions depend on the length of stay. In addition, there is a Farewell Party with the tutors.
